The purest form of religion wasn't our Bible studies, catchy songs, or homilies. The more we sought, on our knees in 2006, the more we realized that the purest form of religion for our community would be to take care of the orphans and the widows. There wasn't anything formal set in place in Igana, Uguanda, but taking care of the orphans to us, must have looked like getting them off the streets, putting food in their bellies, and clothes on their back. Slowly and from various corners in our community, hearts became hungry to seek restoration for orphans in Africa.
In the years following, our community was given oppurtunities to participate in even greater restoration. Projects like: wells, beds, dormitories, fences, and vehicles began to become a reality as more and more people began to develop a passion for the original vision we received in 2006.
Now, the core of all of our work in Africa, that is the children themselves, are having their basic needs met every month. One hundred and ten children have been “adopted” by homes in our community. The kingdom of heaven is sweetly crashing into Africa, and strangely enough right here, as our homes become their homes and they become a part of us.
